How to use
GrantScore Pro
GrantScore Pro
Five steps from first draft to confident submission.
1
SELECT YOUR GRANT TYPE
Choose from Federal (NOFO/RFP), State Agency, Private Foundation, Corporate/CSR, Community Foundation, or Capacity Building. This calibrates the scoring criteria to match how that specific funder type evaluates applications. Federal grants are scored against 2 CFR Part 200 compliance standards. State grants are evaluated against nonprofit governance credibility. Foundation grants weight narrative and mission alignment more heavily.
2
PASTE YOUR COMPLETE APPLICATION
Copy and paste your full grant narrative — including your statement of need, goals and objectives, program design and methodology, evaluation plan, budget justification, and organizational capacity section. The more complete your text, the more precise your score. Minimum 200 characters required. You can also paste a letter of inquiry (LOI) or a draft — you don't have to be finished to benefit from scoring.
3
CLICK "SCORE APPLICATION"
GrantScore Pro analyzes your application across 8 weighted dimensions using AI trained on federal review criteria and nonprofit governance standards. Analysis takes 15–30 seconds. You'll see a live progress indicator as each dimension is evaluated.
4
REVIEW YOUR RESULTS
You'll receive a composite score (0–100), a dimension-by-dimension breakdown with weighted scores, specific reviewer findings for each area, 3 priority revision recommendations per dimension, your top 3 strengths, critical gaps, a reviewer verdict, and a recommended revision order starting with your weakest dimensions.
5
REVISE AND RESCORE
Use the feedback to strengthen your weakest dimensions first — the revision priority order tells you exactly where to start. Then paste your revised application and score again. Most users run 2–3 scoring rounds before reaching the Fundable or Competitive tier. Click "Score Another Application" to start a new analysis at any time.

Everything you need to know about GrantScore Pro.
What grant types does GrantScore Pro support?▼
GrantScore Pro supports Federal grants (NIH, USDA, HHS, NEA, NEH, DOE, and all NOFO/RFP formats), State agency grants, Private foundation proposals (Ford, Gates, Kellogg, and others), Corporate/CSR applications, Community foundation proposals, and Capacity building grant requests. The scoring criteria automatically adjusts based on the grant type you select so your feedback is specific to how that funder type actually evaluates applications.
Can GrantScore Pro guarantee I'll win the grant?▼
No — and any tool that makes that claim should be avoided. Funding decisions involve funder priorities, relationships, budget cycles, and competitive pool dynamics that no tool can predict. What GrantScore Pro does is ensure you know exactly where your application is weak before the funder does — so you can fix it. We can't guarantee outcomes. We can guarantee you'll submit a stronger application than you would have otherwise.
How is this different from hiring a grant consultant?▼
A skilled grant consultant brings funder relationships, sector expertise, and writing talent that GrantScore Pro doesn't replace. What GrantScore Pro offers is immediate, structured, consistent feedback — available at any hour, without a $150–$300/hour consulting fee. Many grant consultants use GrantScore Pro as a first-pass tool before doing their own review. Think of it as a complement to human expertise, not a replacement for it.
What are the 8 scoring dimensions and their weights?▼
Program Design & Methodology (20%) — evidence-based approach and implementation clarity. Statement of Need (15%) — clarity, urgency, and data-backed problem articulation. Goals & Objectives (15%) — SMART criteria adherence and funder alignment. Evaluation Plan (15%) — data collection rigor and accountability structures. Budget Justification (15%) — cost reasonableness, line-item clarity, and leverage. Organizational Capacity (10%) — track record, leadership, and infrastructure. Equity & Inclusion (5%) — commitment to underrepresented populations. Sustainability (5%) — plan for continuation beyond the grant period.
Is my application text kept private?▼
Your application text is sent to the AI model for analysis only and is not stored, shared, or used to train future models. We recommend removing any personally identifiable information about program participants before pasting. Do not include Social Security numbers, financial account information, or sensitive personal data about individuals served by your program.
Can I score the same application multiple times?▼
Yes — and we strongly encourage it. Score your draft, revise the weakest dimensions using the priority order provided, then score again. Repeat until you reach the Fundable or Competitive tier. Most users run 2–3 scoring rounds before submitting a polished application. Each score is independent so you can track your improvement across rounds.
Does GrantScore Pro work for letters of inquiry (LOIs)?▼
Yes. Paste your LOI text and select the appropriate grant type. The scoring will flag gaps in your problem framing, mission clarity, and organizational credibility — the same elements funders evaluate in an LOI format. Some dimensions will score lower simply because LOIs are shorter, so focus on the specific findings rather than the composite score when reviewing an LOI.
I'm a grant consultant. Can I use this with my clients?▼
Absolutely. GrantScore Pro is built for practitioners. Grant consultants use it to provide structured first-pass feedback to clients, identify gaps before investing deep revision hours, and deliver a scored report that demonstrates measurable value. If you're interested in a professional or team plan with volume pricing, contact us at grantscorepro.com.
What's coming in future versions?▼
Version 2 will add federal-specific compliance variables including 2 CFR Part 200 alignment, SAM.gov registration flags, and indirect cost rate scoring. Version 3 will add a North Carolina compliance track built on NC General Statutes Chapter 55A governance standards. Future versions will expand state-by-state compliance frameworks across all 50 states and offer enterprise white-label licensing for foundations and government agencies.
